Why Vietnamese Coffee, You Ask?
Opening my own Vietnamese coffee brand is more than just a business venture—it's a celebration of my heritage. Growing up in Australia, I was immersed in the vibrant tapestry of Vietnamese food, culture, and coffee traditions.
As I looked around, I noticed the rise of Specialty Coffee from other countries, the hand-picked, top-quality brews that truly stand out. That got me thinking—could I bring that same level of excellence to Vietnamese coffee? Coffee free from additives and preservatives, just like it's meant to be.
The journey began there, driven by a desire for authenticity and quality. Vietnamese coffee holds a unique allure; it's bold, robust, and undeniably caffeinated.
As an active family who cherishes time spent outdoors, I've experienced firsthand the challenge of enjoying a good, strong cup of coffee while on the go. I yearned for something more exceptional, without the added hassle.
That's when inspiration struck—drip bag filters, reminiscent of the traditional 'phin filters.' Small, lightweight, single-use, and compostable, they effortlessly deliver the rich flavours of Vietnamese coffee in a fraction of the time.
Since then, our journey has expanded to include a range of whole beans, carefully selected and roasted to perfection. Whether you prefer the convenience of drip bags or the hands-on experience of grinding your own beans, our goal remains the same: to bring you the finest Vietnamese coffee experience, however you choose to enjoy it.
But it doesn't end there. Our journey intertwines with the hardworking farmers in Da Lat, nestled in Vietnam's Central Highlands. These family-owned farms are meticulously tended by villagers who have nurtured their craft for generations. I had the privilege of meeting one such farmer on my journey—an elderly gentleman who proudly showed me the coffee plants he planted over 30 years ago. His farm sits atop a mountain peak accessible only by motorbike through winding village paths, across a river in a sturdy wooden boat, and then up the mountain again.
The farms is a testament to dedication and tradition, watered by a natural stream that cascades down its slopes. Partnering closely with a dedicated roaster who specialises in Vietnamese beans—both Arabica and Robusta—has been integral. They work intimately with these single-origin farms, understanding each crop and adjusting their roasting techniques accordingly.
